This was such a great and detailed piece. Thank you for the great advice. I found your point on the purpose of social-media to be particularly insightful.
Hi Andrea! Thank you. Yeah, social media feels like a huge, eager, waiting crowd at first; then we realize, wait a minute, this doesn't work very well, so why bother? But it IS important for connection and visibility.
Excellent metaphor. I share this with my clients all the time. They put all their eggs in one basket and wonder why their books aren't selling. Well done 👏🏾
Thank you, Alyssa! Glad I'm not alone in this. I'm always wary when someone says that this one thing caused huge sales because it's never just one thing (okay, a Bookbub deal would be amazing but so rare...). Thank you for reading!
Exactly. Plus awards are always nice but out of our control. So how can you market your book even if you don't get a coveted award from ALA like the Newbery or Caldacott
Awards are lovely, and the only thing we can control is remembering to submit. I didn't know about awards when I started out. So much we have to wade through.
Anyone can market a book, no awards required. But sure, catching a Newbery or Caldacott would be amazing for any writer!
Great post! my book is still in production, so right now I am focusing on creating connections with readers here. I've been reconnecting with old friends, sharing links personally, and with related fb groups, my fb/IG feeds and stories. Slow but steady...I'll move on to some other planks as I get closer to a pub date.
thanks love
Thanks, Tony
Excellent post and congrats on making the list!!!
Thanks, lovely. Total surprise.
always a nice added touch to the day. 🍃

Another great article with more solid advice. You have a wonderful way of making the difficult easy to understand. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much, Patty! I know some of it can feel scary to people who aren't super techy, but these little things start to help our visibility.
There’s something more to learn here! Thank you for these wise words!
