This was a great article Rachel! It is definitely a new challenge with AEO and GEO and we all need to prepare for it and put it into our workflows. Thanks!
I have to admit to a propensity to glaze but it was easy to fight as you are so clear and it made me want to print it out (old school) and follow it. You are bookmarked and will become part of what I will be doing over the next few weeks.
Hi Rachel, I'm saving this article. It's full of helpful information I need. I don't know a lot about AI. What do you think about using AI to create a synopsis for my books? One book is published. I'm writing a novella currently. The AI program I read about can also give a list of Comp Titles. I would never use AI for my actual writing. Do you think getting an AI synopsis is unethical? Thanks.
I tried Website Grader and a 70, but there are definitely some issues. That was a good recommendation. Also, Joanna Penn is great. I love her writing podcast.
I was just at an author conference where discussions about AI invariably defaulted to the issue of authors using AI to write fiction. Thank you for sharing AI's real utility! These are actionable tips that don't replace authors, just give us more tools.
Ooh, thanks for sharing that, Carmen! It's unavoidable that people will use AI to write - it doesn't mean the output will be good. As I mentioned, AI Search is now available, and our books and other published materials are fair game. However, it also means we'll appear in AI Search.
Not sure anyone caught it but Skynet became self-aware on August 29 (1997), so I published this post on that day as a secret little easter egg to myself.

Hi Jim! Thanks so much. I didn't know much about AI search (and all this new stuff) until this year. Interesting, to say the least.
You make this scary stuff so clear. Thank you, Rachel.
Thank you, Dr. A! I almost sent it to you to see if it made sense but then I forgot. LOL, so me. xx
I hear that! Sometimes I read your posts and comment on social media… and then forget to hit Send. 😂
LOL it happens. x
Thank you for this. So clear. So helpful
I'm so glad, Jennifer! I was afraid it would glaze over people's eyes, but it's so important to know.

Yay! I'll be here x
And thank you again!
Someone posted on Threads thanking people who helped them stop AI search results from continuing to deadname them!
It's scary how deep AI can dig and find everything you don't want found. It's way better learning these things to control the narrative.
Wow, I hadn't even thought of that. Scary!

Not at all. That's basically an admin task, which can save you time. Just check everything very closely.
I often use it for things like that. Helpful for research as well. I always double-check everything, though, especially for any hidden bias.
Thanks Rachel! I like how you explain that.

Great! 70 is decent. And yes, Joanna Penn is fantastic. So informative. I've been a fan for a long time.

Interesting to see how this all plays out.

Writers are nerds. I own that.
