Some very useful things here, Rachel. I've had some success with NetGalley with traditionally published work - paid for by my publisher - but I'd been put off using it as an Indie author due to the cost. Wasn't aware that things like co-ops were options. Will reassess and look to implement.
Thanks for sharing. It's greatly appreciated. Hope you're doing well!
Hi John Paul! Yes, all good here. I'm glad you've had success with NG - and yea, co-ops are a great idea. I'm curious to hear about your experience. Stay in touch, please.
Cheers, Rachel. I've attached a link to my three nonfictions that Pen&Sword History used for NetGalley - the fourth book is a different author of a similar name. A lot of the reviews ended up on Amazon and Goodreads, too. I've been told that NetGalley has a tool that readers can use to share to the other platforms, but I'm not sure exactly how it works. Either way, it was a good way of getting reviews.
Thanks, Rachel for your very helpful article. I wasn't aware of NetGalley co-ops. Do I have to keep a review that is too negative on there? Can it be removed?
I don't see that option on the site, but it's possible. If anyone knows, please share.
I submitted a question to their site and will let you know when I hear back and what they respond. My general feeling, though, is that we, as authors, have very little, if any, control over what people say about our book once it's out.
A small press published my second novel and refused to pay for NetGalley. I wish I had known about the co-ops. As a NetGalley reader myself, with a 80% review rate, I believe the investment is worth it.
My first novel was on Edelweiss and I received four times the amount of reviews compared to the second.
Both novels received awards so it wasn’t the quality of the book responsible for fewer reviews-it was NetGalley placement.
Some very informative content. I have used 'booksgosocial' as a cooperative Net Galley marketing tool and it was moderately effective. I believe these cooperatives work best for mainstream fiction. I found cooperatives struggled with historical fiction, but then, that is not anything new as romance outsells all others. You are constantly supplying valuable info to the Indies on this platform. Thank you
I’ve written three memoir/poetry books about being a childhood sexual abuse survivor. Broken Pieces, Broken Places, and Broken People. Available in eBook, audiobook, and print formats.
I'd love to know how it works for you. I have two authors with books on NG now, and so far, they've received mostly good reviews, with ratings of 4-5 stars. Only one 1-star, but whatever LOL. It happens.

We're no longer invited to the party.
Thanks! 😊

Wow, that's so interesting! I'm also reviewing Edelweiss for several clients at the moment. Appreciate the share, Mona. 🙏
Thanks for this, Mona. Real world!

Thank you, Kevin. I've been through a great deal of this over the last 15 years, so I'm happy to share whatever I've learned.
Honestly, nothing will ever compare to romance sales. I should be writing that, I swear!
Very helpful. Thank you! Could you drop a link for your memoirs please?
Hi Barbara! Sure, and thank you for asking.

(You can read in any order. They’re all stand-alone.) Hugs.
Thanks Rachel! I'm looking forward to reading them.
I'll definitely have to look into cooperatives for NetGalley. Didn't realize it was an option. ^_^

These sounds great - thanks for the tip. I plan on a book soon so will pop this article in my saved pile for then.
Fantastic! I hope it helps, Beach :)
This is so useful and interesting. I am working towards self-publishing and this seems to be a really helpful tool.
